October is around the corner and so is winter. So I thought this would be the perfect time to discuss what could be your next perfect winter boot. First of all, what makes a perfect winter boot? Well in my opinion a boot needs to have four main structural components: rubber Goodyear welted soles, storm welts and a leather upper that has some water resistant properties.
So what are my suggestions? Well my first suggestion to you is our wonderful De Winter Bodiam. This piece of footwear encapsulates everything great about a winter boot and features all four of my main factors. Made using premium waxed leather fed with oils and waxes the Bodiam not only has great weather resistant properties but has a suppleness that keeps the boot looking great as it weathers. The addition of a storm welt and Goodyear welted soles means water will run off the boot easily and ensure you keep your feet dry on those miserable rainy days. Not only does this boot have everything you need to survive the winter but it’s stylish too. The added broguing gives this boot an elegant look. Made on our Hurst last the shoe has an elegant toe shape and a fantastic fit.
My second suggestion to you is our De Winter Rochester. Similar to the Bodiam, but not a brogue, this boot offers Goodyear welted soles and premium waxed leathers. Where these boots differ from the Bodiam is that they don’t offer a storm welt, which gives the boot a lighter appearance. However, compared to the one colour offered by the Bodiam the Rochester offers colours in black waxed calf and brown waxed grain. This boot has a more formal style and sports a toe cap which I think completes the look.
So there you have it, my suggestions for your next winter boot. But why not look for yourselves on our site dewinterboots.com.
