Caring for De Winter Boots

Regularly apply a good wax polish, not containing silicone, to leather uppers. This should be worked well into the welt (where the upper meets the sole) to help prevent water ingress. Leather uppers should be wiped clean before the application of polish with a suitable brush.

The important thing is to prevent the leather losing its natural oils and by regularly wax polishing the leather will maintain its flexibility and strength.

For suede boots, remove dirt when dry with a stiff brush, and then bring up the nap with a suede brush. This will also help bring the natural oils of waxed suede boots to the surface.

Rubber soled boots may be worn straight from the box but it’s good practice to walk leather soled boots on a dry, slightly gritty surface, on an initial outing. This will help toughen the leather.
